Quadridoodle
This was the first thing I folded this year. When I saw Paul Jackson's "Significant Doodle" on Facebook late last year, I had to fold it. The model wandered around my desk, just looking so cool. I folded it a couple more times. But, because I am me, I couldn't help thinking, "What else can be done with this fold?' It rattled around in my head until I got this nutty idea to do a four-way fold based on it. To my delight, it worked very well.
Bending the outer corners down, as in the Jackson original, didn't work out. Far too many layers are involved, and it never looked good. I decided that they should be left unbent. Any paper will work if it is crisp and not too heavy.
I refrained from using any marking creases that would show on the smooth surfaces. This makes it more difficult, but it looks better. I suggest using templates to ensure accuracy. Gluing is not necessary for stability in the finished model, but tacking the sheets together prevents a lot of mess and frustration during the folding process. Paper clips might serve instead.
