Origin of Serum
My origami work is inspired by the vaccination panel of Diego Rivera's mural. The mural shows a cow, horse, and sheep beside an infant receiving a vaccination, while scientists study the lifesaving breakthrough in the background. Vaccines were still relatively new when Rivera painted it, and he treated modern medicine as part of the same industrial and scientific system as the factories around it. Serum from these animals is as essential to vaccine production as steel is to the automobile assembly line. I focused on the animals themselves and their role in that process. I also folded all of them from the same base for a unified appearance.
