Red Head Centipede
This red centipede, by Kota lmai, is designed to capture movement, tension, and presence in a single continuous flow. The body curves with a natural, lifelike motion, giving the impression that it is moments away from crawling off its base. The contrasting colours — deep black armour and vivid shades of orange legs, all within a 6 gsm custom-created sheet to create an immediate emotional impact, emphasising both danger and elegance.
Every segment is shaped to feel alive, each leg positioned to reinforce a sense of coordinated motion. Instead of imitating a creature mechanically, the work aims to express the centipede’s character: alert, agile, and quietly powerful. The chosen papers enhance this personality—strong contrasts, sharp edges, and a rhythmic repetition of form.
