This work takes the Dunhuang Apsaras as its creative prototype, using lightweight white rice paper as the material. Through a combination of folding, crumpling, and supporting structures, it recreates the classic pose of an Apsara “playing the pipa behind her back”. The smooth folds mimic flowing silk ribbons and billowing robes, and within the minimalist white palette, it captures the light rhythm and ethereal beauty of the celestial dancers in Dunhuang murals, breathing new life into traditional art through the language of origami in contemporary handcraft.
