Bouquet - Ekaterina Lukasheva

What if a floral, bouquet-like kusudama could suddenly portray a dystopian machine in a musical comedy ? This may seem intriguing, but it is exactly what happened.
My interpretation of the model "Bouquet" by Ekaterina Lukasheva has been made in order to portray a mesmerizing, yet terrifying machine that controls dreams for a musical comedy taking place near Paris. The said play was two years in the making.

Whereas regular kusudamas range between 7cm and 30cm in diameter, this one was a staggering 1,10m wide, yet created out of 80gsm white kraft paper in order to make it translucent enough for the inner light bulb to shine through and create interesting lighting patterns with the overlapping layers of paper. The size and weight of the model was also a challenge, as I had to create a special metal wire framing for the kusudama.

Through my interpretation of Lukasheva's model, I hope that you can grasp how limitless origami is, and how it can be associated with other forms of art to create magical multi-disciplinary works.
